Online Entries are now available

E-mail Print PDF

We've been been busy working away in the background, talking to sponsors and gaining the support of the local community and District Council, so we didn't make our October 1st target for opening entries, but fortunately its still the 1st in a few countries for a few more hours.

Enter online HERE.

Or if you live in NZ and want to do it the old fashioned way, here's something to print and send in.

Entries close on April 1st, 2009 or when the Open division is full, whichever comes first.

Age Divisions

E-mail Print PDF

Age division qualification is based on your age on January 1st 2009.

The proposed Age Divisions are :-

  • 16 years and under
  • 17 - 19 years
  • 20 - 29 years
  • 30 - 39 years
  • 40 - 44 years
  • 45 - 49 years
  • 50 - 54 years
  • 55 - 59 years
  • 60 - 63 years
  • 64 years +

The intention of the five-year increments from 40 - 60 years onwards take into account the age of the competitors with the aim of maximising the competitive nature of each division. Similarly for three year increments from 60 onward.

It is proposed that there should be a minimum of four surfers per age division. If there are insufficient surfers in a division they will compete either up or down a division as appropriate.

Women's divisions will be determined on a pro-rata basis, depending on the number of competitors.

Age Divisions may be Unisex as appropriate

Accommodation is disappearing fast

The World University Games are also on in the Taranaki area next Easter with 2500 entries, so accommodation will be tight.

Now is a good time to make sure you have no problems with the entry criteria, then take a look at the accommodation options and make a booking.

We're looking at some options like getting a number of caravans transported down from New Plymouth to the Opunake Camping Ground, and some people have already booked houses for the week.

More information about houses for rent will be posted soon but in the meantime, I've added some campervan info under the Accommodation link. There's quite a relaxed attitude to free camping in many places around the Taranaki area as long as its not on somebody's back paddock.
